Hospital negligence, child death may warrant legal action

Posted on January 13, 2017 Hospital Negligence

Though going to the hospital and undergoing medical procedures is often done in hopes of getting better from ailments, not everyone successfully recovers. In some cases, death may occur due to medical errors or hospital negligence. These instances can often lead to devastation to the surviving families, and many families wish to pursue legal action in order to address their situations.

Illinois residents may be interested in one family who recently lost a child after she underwent surgery. Reports stated that the 9-year-old girl had an operation in order to have her tonsils removed. The girls mother had apparently been putting off the procedure, but she was informed by doctors that the operation was medically necessary. Rather than taking the standard 40 minutes to complete, the surgery went on for two hours.

After the surgery, the girl was discharged from the hospital. Her mother stated that she could tell her daughter did not feel well and thought the young girl had been released from the hospital too soon. Just a few hours after the surgery, the girl died from cardiac arrest. The mother plans the file a lawsuit against the hospital where the surgery took place.

The loss of a loved one due to mistakes on the part of another individual is always a serious event. However, the impacts may be felt in a greater manner if the death is of a child. If Illinois residents have lost children due to hospital negligence or other medical mistakes, they may wish to consider pursuing lawsuits of their own in hopes of gaining justice and compensation.
