The following are some of the personal injury cases of interest that we are currently working on. Also, check out our recent successes.
Parent of C.M.F v. Illinois Bone & Joint Institute, et al. – Circuit Court of Cook County
Gill Ports Hoste LLC filed a medical negligence lawsuit on behalf of a young child and his family against Advocate Children’s Hospital, Dr. Andrea Kramer, Advocate Medical Group and Illinois Bone & Joint Institute. The 3-year-old plaintiff suffered a non-displaced broken femur at home on a Friday and his parents brought him to Advocate Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. The child was placed in a brace and admitted to the hospital for observation. Dr. Andrea Kramer, an orthopedic surgeon, was assigned by Advocate to care for the child. The child developed compartment syndrome in his leg over the weekend while inpatient and underwent the first of his many fasciotomies (surgeries to relieve pressure in the leg compartments) that Monday after 3 days in the hospital.
Plaintiff’s complaint alleges that the defendants negligently failed to prevent the compartment syndrome and negligently delayed diagnosis and treatment of compartment syndrome.
Estate of K.D. v. Zuberi Medical Group, et al. – Los Angeles County
Gill Ports Hoste has filed a medical malpractice and wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of a husband and two minor children following the death of a young mother after bariatric surgery and subsequent complications.
Surgical and post-operative care fell below the accepted standard of care, including failures to properly repair a diaphragmatic hernia, timely diagnose post-surgical complications, and adequately treat a serious infection. According to the complaint, these failures led to aspiration pneumonia, infection, and ultimately the patient’s death.
The case seeks accountability for preventable medical errors and justice for a family facing an unimaginable loss.
We take pride in advocating for patients and families harmed by medical negligence and will do our best to obtain compensation for an immeasurable loss.
Estate of J.H. v. Coleman Medical Associates, Ltd., et al. – Circuit Court of Peoria County
Gill Ports Hoste LLC has filed a wrongful death and medical negligence lawsuit in Peoria County for failure to provide preventative cancer screenings and appropriate treatment related to a woman with a significant smoking history.
The decedent’s estate alleges that despite multiple visits over several years and clear risk factors, recommended lung cancer screening was never offered or ordered. The patient was later diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away.
The lawsuit seeks accountability for missed opportunities to diagnose and treat the disease earlier, and justice for the family left behind.
In addition to the above wrongful death suit, Gill Ports Hoste LLC has filed two medical negligence cases in Cook County involving failure to diagnose and treat lung cancer. (See J.P. v. Endeavor Health Medical Group, et al. and T.K. v. Franciscan Alliance, Inc., et al.)
In both cases defendants were negligent in either failing to offer or order a low-dose CT to screen for lung cancer or failing to recognize that the CT imaging was incomplete. Both injured parties’ lung cancer has metastasized to the brain.
Lawsuit against the Northwestern Medicine Palos Health Surgery Center
We recently filed a lawsuit on behalf of our client who presented to Northwestern Medicine Palos Health Surgery Center for a planned excision of a 6 cm lipoma in his torso. During the procedure, the patient’s oxygen saturation decreased and went unnoticed for 15 minutes causing him to suffer bradycardic/hypoxemic respiratory arrest.
