Woman claims emergency room negligence led to husband’s death

Posted on September 25, 2013 Hospital Negligence

Emergency rooms are a place that we all hope to not have to go to. However, reality doesn’t always accommodate this hope. Sometimes, individuals suffer injuries or develop conditions that require emergency care.

It is incredibly important for hospitals here in Illinois to act properly when it comes to the care provided in their emergency rooms. Emergency room negligence can be devastating to patients. It can sometimes even have fatal results.

A case involving allegations of emergency room negligence has recently arisen in another state.

The case involves a hospital in West Virginia. A woman says that her husband had an acute coronary syndrome and that he did not receive proper and timely care for this condition while he was at the hospital’s emergency room.

According to the woman, this alleged emergency room negligence resulted in her husband dying. The man’s death occurred in August 2011.

The woman has brought a wrongful death lawsuit in connection to these allegations. The lawsuit names multiple parties, including the hospital, as defendants. Damages are being sought in this lawsuit. Included among the damages the woman is asking for are damages for medical costs and funeral expenses.

As the allegations in this case illustrate, emergency room negligence can be a very harmful type of medical negligence.

If a person suspects that injuries they suffered or a death of a loved one was caused by emergency room negligence, they should consider speaking to a medical malpractice attorney. A medical malpractice attorney can help a person review the incident in which the suspected negligence occurred and can help a person determine what actions can/should be taken moving forward.
