NHTSA is currently investigating exploding Takata airbags that have injured and killed numerous people over the past several years. Many of the known injuries and deaths involve Honda (and Acura) vehicles, several of which were 2001 and 2002 model year vehicles. Honda Civic and Honda Accord are two of the most frequently involved vehicles thus far.
Investigation to date suggests that Takata and Honda has known of these defects for a number of years but failed to take appropriate action.
